when it’s hard to be thankful

whenit'shard

Let’s be truthful here, life is really difficult sometimes.

And let’s be even more truthful. Sometimes it’s really difficult to be thankful.

Sometimes, you search and search and search for something to be grateful for, and nothing comes to mind.

My family and I have been enduring some really awful hardships lately.

And it makes it so difficult to be thankful.

Life is awful, so how could you be thankful? Right?

Yeah, I’m having a really hard time with life right now, and I’m stressed. Life stinks and then you die. That’s my life motto. I’m kidding, I’m kidding, it’s not. But sometimes I feel like that.

BUT LIFE IS STILL GOOD. GOD IS STILL GOOD! God is there.

And I have my family. I have friends. I have shelter, and food, and so much more than life’s necessities.

So yeah, it’s really difficult to be happy. But maybe we don’t need to be happy.

And it’s hard to be grateful when life is so difficult, and things are kicking us down, over and over, but God is with us, and isn’t that enough?

So this Thanksgiving, even if you can’t find much to be thankful for, there is enough, because God is with us.

Happy Thanksgiving, and God’s blessings.

Pictures in the Park (Part 1 [of two])

I had a VERY lovely morning/early afternoon with one of my dearest friends last week. It was one of the best days I’ve had in a few months!

We started off getting warm drinks (I got a caramel chai tea and she got a whole milk latte) and then headed to a beautiful park.

I haven’t gone to a park just to be at a park in I don’t know how long, but I’m so glad we did! It was wonderful.

Thank goodness my mom suggested taking my camera, or we would have not only been there for so long, but would have missed out on so many photo opportunities!

So the rest of this post is kind of a photo spew (some would say a photo dump but somehow that doesn’t sound very good!), but we took so many photos, and I really couldn’t narrow them down, so there will be a part two. All the photos of me were taken by my dear friend, and the ones without me are taken by me.

IMG_1425Anyone know what these ^ are? I don’t but they’re simply lovely.

IMG_1230Okay so she was adjusting the camera, so i made this silly face, not knowing she would actually take a picture!

IMG_1231And then when I realized she had taken a photo it made me laugh, and she took a photo of me laughing.

IMG_1203

IMG_1141I really like the super light, white lighting here ^, it’s so airy.

IMG_1177There was a gorgeous small meadow of Red Woods ^, and the lighting was so lovely, super dark in some spots and very bright in others.

IMG_1367

IMG_1338I didn’t even notice the lovely orange on the tree when I saw this great background, but it really pops!

IMG_1262

IMG_1125Agh the ivy growing on the trees! There was beautiful ivy all over! I love ivy, so it was awesome.

IMG_1219Benches are so cool. I don’t know why… but they just are!

IMG_1207Me laughing… again. She made me laugh so many times 🙂 It was such a nice time.

IMG_1267This bridge ^ is a really good photo op. Okay also, there was the awesome older lady taking her time walking along and she was like picking up leaves, and she was so story-bookish, like i want to be her! And as she walked by she looked at us and was like ‘that was a good one!’ and also there was this lady jogging by who took the time to slow down, take an earbud out and say, ‘you look really beautiful’. It was so kind. Those are the strangers you wanna be, folks. Those are the beautiful people.

IMG_1249so i edited most of these photos only a little little bit, but I decided to go all out on this one, and am very happy with the result. ^

IMG_1364Me laughing… yet again.

IMG_1281Ah the colors popping in this one makes me soooo happy!

IMG_1237I really like this one ^… 🙂

IMG_1312#gottabecliche and here’s the stereotypical feet on the ground picture ^.

And now… drumroll please…

My amazing wonderful friend and talented photographer!

Pictured above, with a very large leaf haha, is my AMAZING, beautiful friend, who is always there for me and basically the most swell person ever. She took several hours out of her day to let me drive her around (so close to my licence, guys!), buy me a hot tea, walk in the park with me, and give me a free photo shoot! It was amazing!

So that was my lovely day I had… Be ready for part two soon!

So what did you think? Did you like the photos? Do you have a favorite? Are you jealous of my lovely time in the park haha 😉 Lemme know in the comments!

Original or Remake (Disney)

ordisre

So ya know how there are very few original ideas in Hollywood right now it seems? There’s remakes, sequels, prequels, etc? And rarely something entirely new? At times I’m really annoyed at this but it can be fun to see remakes sometimes, a new twist on an old classic that either goes horribly or wonderfully.

Anyways, I thought it would be interesting to do a comparison of six Disney remakes that I have seen (as far as I remember it’s just these six I’ve seen).

So here goes.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND (1951 and 2010)

alice

I remember seeing the original at my aunt’s house, but that was years and years ago. So I will not make any statements like ‘the new one is much better’ or ‘the original was so much more accurate’ because I honestly cannot remember the original.

But I love the modern one. It’s so oddly weirldy whimsical. And Although I would entirely understand if someone were to hate it, I still love it. There’s something so marvelous about it. And I love Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, he’s superb as the odd character. And Alice’s main dress and her blue coat in the end, my goodness I would love to wear those!

SLEEPING BEAUTY/MALEFICENT (1959 and 2014)

mali

Okay I must admit, I’m not very fond of either of these movies. I remember finding both boring and thinking just not containing the perfect magical Disney touch. But I haven’t seen either in several years.

I don’t have really anything else to say about either…

QUickly
She’s so sweet and pretty!

CINDERELLA (1950 and 2015)

cindy

Lemme just say that I think everyone already knows that I love, entirely completely ADORE the 2015 Cinderella. I find it gorgeous and breathtaking and all the acting is incredible, the characters are spot-on, the costumes astound me, the visuals sweep me off my feet, and the soundtrack is top-notch (claps hands for Patrick Doyle).

The classic Cinderella is cheesy and quite boring but I do still like it. It’s a sweet movie.

But the new one is must so amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing.

"I looked into his eyes and he looked into mine and I couldn't help but think that he a great deal left to live for."
just look at how happy and perty she is!

THE JUNGLE BOOK (1967 and 2016)

jungle book

Ah! The Jungle Book. I love both movies. I will always like the old one best, because it so simple and cheery, but I really like the new one too because it adds a different dimension. There are several differences, and the one that made me go ‘whoa!’ the most was King Louie. Like what on earth I hope no children saw the new one because the chase scene? My goodness, that was frightening haha! I also didn’t like Baloo much, he was much to conniving and scheming, whereas in the original he is sweet and innocent, albeit somewhat brainless. I also didn’t like that Bagheera and Baloo didn’t have as much of a friendship as they did in the classic. But it’s still a good movie.

just look at them two!

PETE’S DRAGON (1977 and 2016)

pete's dragon

I also haven’t seen the original of this, and after looking at stills from the movie, I’m not sure I have any desire to. Is it as awful as it looks, anyone? But I did see last year’s version, and although I found it somewhat boring and slow moving, I thought it was a good movie overall. Will I want to see it again any time soon? Probably not, but maybe in a few years. The kid who played Pete is a very talented actor, and there was some gorgeous scenery and music.

images.duckduckgo
LOOK AT THAT GORGEOUS GREENESS!

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1991 and 2017)

belle

These movies. I could go on for quite a while. But let me be brief. I was dissapointed in the new version. It just didn’t have the perfect touch, not to mention (why do we say that right before we mention it?) all the controversy. But I liked the music in the new one, the added songs were quite beautfiful. But overall I will always 100% love and favor the original.

images.duckduckgo
Look at how confused and scared he looks! So sweet!

So that’s that, folks. What do you think? Did you enjoy the comparisons/mini-reviews? Would you be interested in another similar post? I could do classics remade, or westerns or whatever.

Which versions of these do y’all like best? Did I miss any Disney remakes? Are there any more remakes coming out soon?

Autumn Happiness

autumn happiness

Autumn has arrived! Autumn is the season of soul, in my opinion. Here are a few lovely quotes that really capture how I feel about this season.

“And the sun took a step back, the leaves lulled themselves to sleep and Autumn was awakened.” ~Raquel Franco

“Anyone who thinks fallen leaves are dead has never watched them dancing on a windy day.” ~Shira Tamir

“The leaves are changing. I feel poetry in the air.” ~Laura Javorski

“How beautiful the leaves grow old
How full of light and color are their last days.”

And of course to be entirely cliche; “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” ~Anne of Green Gables

Here is a list of lovely Autumn happiness:

holding a warm mug in your hand

rain running down a window

the crunch of leaves

listening to jazz

sitting around a campfire

decorating with pumpkins

wearing sweaters, vests, jackets, and boots and not dying of heat while doing so

candles lit all around

plaid

the nearing of thanksgiving

pumpkin patches

orange, gold, and red being the color scheme of everything

cuddling under a blanket

the smell of the air

pumpkin candy and candy corn

my mom’s hot apple cider

So what are some things you love about Autumn? Are you glad it’s arrived?

Life is Crazy + ttfn

Agh! Life has been crazy lately!!!

We’re moving tomorrow, so we’ve been in a crazy hassle and I’m stressed and emotional about leaving the only house of I’ve ever lived, I’ve never moved before and so it has been an interesting emotional roller-coaster.

We’ve had out of town guests, and I’ve been planning a three week trip, so that’s exciting but added even more stress (in real glad I’m doing it though).

So those are some of the reasons that I haven’t been very active in the blogging world lately.

So y’alls prayers for my family and I would be very highly appreciated as we continue to deal with this crazy time in our lives.

Suffice to say, I won’t be blogging for the next couple of weeks unless I get the unlikely chance. (I’d still love comments though!) So ttfn, ta-ta for now!

Independence Day

IMG_3671.jpg

Independence Day is has arrived and I have been thinking about our founding fathers, and the of this country’s independence.

So I have decided to share with you some of my favorite Revolutionary war or founding fathers quotes. So here goes:

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.
~the final words of the Declaration of Independence

How soon we forget history…
~George Washington

That these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States.
~the Lee Resolution

I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.
~Thomas Jefferson

I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.
~Nathan Hale

We must all hang together, or most assuredly, we will all hang separately.
~Benjamin Franklin

Don’t fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here.
~Captain Parker

Enemies in war, in peace, friends.
~Thomas Jefferson

The duty of a patriot is to protect his country from its government.
~Attributed to Thomas Paine

You will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom i hope you will make good use of it.
~John Adams

I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth- that God Governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid?
~Benjamin Franklin

Happy Independence Day!
